Onwards And Upwards To Europe

Back in Sydney we did go to the beach a few times and then, between all the socialising and the farewells, we started to think about what we needed to take to Europe and what would need to pack back in to storage.  And so started our final week in Sydney…….  Add to this: haircuts, a pedicure, eye lash tinting, computer back-ups, health insurance payments, car insurance adjustments and last minute ‘everythings’, we’re spending a lot of time getting prepared for another long-term departure.

Our flight back to England is booked for Saturday March 16th and our first week goes like this:

Two nights in East Grinstead, one night in Horsham, Wednesday lunch in Watton-At-Stone and then on to Hertford. Thursday is the day that Eileen gets a full service and a habitation service.  Rodney has an old boys school dinner on Friday.  Saturday will involve more re-packing and on Sunday we head back to Heathrow airport. On Monday March 25th we fly to Zurich and from there we will board a train, or two, up to Kenn and Pla’s apartment in the village of Arosa.  Hopefully it will still be really cold as the aim is to ski together for four days and on Good Friday, when Kenn, Pla and Cassie arrive, we will ski for a few more days with them.  We fly back to Heathrow on Tuesday April 2nd.

The current plan is then to set off in Eileen later that week to Holland, or to Denmark, all depending upon Rodney’s new driving licence having arrived and everything being right in the world of Eileen.  Our campervan travels will then continue around Europe hopefully taking in Keuchenhof and then heading south.  If the weather is too cold and wet, we may head south quite quickly, or if it’s fine, then we’ll meander slowly though Germany down to Austria and aim to get to the Italian Lakes.  We have a very important wedding to attend at the end of August, so after that we’ll spend a month tootling around Cornwall and South Wales in September.  Our flight out of England is booked for October 9th and we’ll be stopping off for nearly three weeks with our friends Alison and Ramsay in Abu Dhabi, which we’re both rather excited about, as we’ve not travelled in the Middle East before.

So that’s where we are at for now.  No doubt there will be changes, but this backbone of a plan will hopefully be what unfolds for us this year.
