Going To, In, Around And Out Of Bangkok Airport, Thailand

The taxi took a longer (though faster) route right around the airport, yes literally right around the airport and that’s a big area! We passed the runways, the warehouses and the terminal buildings from every side. When we finally arrived at the entrance, it was a quick check in and not too long a wait for our flight to be called and the gate to be opened. Now we boarded a hot and sweaty bus to take us on another tour around the airport to our plane; we seemed to be on the bus long enough to see at least three sides of the terminal buildings, all over again.

Taxi – tick. Bus-tick. Now we just needed to take off. But nope, not yet. The plane now taxied around the airport for 32 minutes. We were both so engrossed in our magazines that neither of us noticed that we were tootling around on the tarmac and still weren’t airborne.  At 12:40 in the afternoon, our little Bangkok Airways plane finally shot down the runway and we were on our way north to Chiang Mai. Farewell Bangkok Airport….at last!
