The Chateau And The Laundrette

Well, the Chateau de Cheverny really was quite stunning inside and it wasn’t overly large.  I think I could live in a chateau that size, but I’ll stick with Eileen for now.  It is supposedly the chateau that is Captain Haddock’s humble abode in the ‘Adventures of Tintin’.  He was looking out of the window when we were there.

We couldn’t really enjoy strolling the grounds, due to the rain, so we drove in to the village to find an automatic teller machine and to see if anything might be open……  nope; France is still closed and there didn’t seem to be any banks with teller machines, so we drove back to the campsite and walked over to the laundrette to get a load of washing done.  I always thought that ‘laundrette’ was a French word, but no, we needed the laverie automatique. Whatever it is called, we now have clean towels and lots of non-muddy clothes.

It really is quite nice sitting inside Eileen when the weather is awful and we feel a little bit superior to some of our fellow campers. At this campsite, we’re surrounded by tents and they all look so soggy.  Needless to say there seems to be no-one in them, because, as I said before, France is still closed.

We’ve had a nice steak and veggie dinner and we’re now going to settle in to a movie on the laptop with a cup of tea in hand.  Ah life is good…….

  1. Hi guys, you have posted some beautiful pictures ( when the sun is shining) I am going to love all the ‘chateau’ photos.
I think we should run a competition on ‘ spot the “where’s Froggie ” – substituted for “where’s Wally” in your pictures ….or failing the ability to ‘spot the frog’ maybe you could plant piglet in the composition… And we will ‘spot ‘ him instead,,,.
Love and quick massage on all bruises.
