A Successful Day In Hossegor

After listening to the rain most of the night and all morning we packed up and left the campsite at 11am.  We crossed to the other side of the harbour and found a parking spot in Hossegor.  I managed to find a pair of comfy black sandals to replace the decrepit ones I have been travelling with.  For anyone who knows my tiny feet, they’ll know that this is a very exciting moment for me.  We celebrated the success by spending more money on a very nice three-course meal, the goats cheese tart for entrée was to die for.

We decided to see a bit more of the area, but as it was still so wildly wet and windy we drove Eileen around rather than get the bikes out.  We drove all the way up the side of the dunes to Segnosse and then back down to Hossegor on the inland side of the lagoon.  We strolled around gathering more shells on a couple of the beaches and then dashed back to Eileen just as another cloudburst hit.

We’ve now driven back down to Capbreton to the Aires de Service which is tucked in behind a huge sand dune.  We might watch another episode of Michael Palin’s New Europe on the DVD this evening and I’m planning to walk over the sand dune to hopefully watch another good sunset before bedtime tonight.
