Leaving Australia

I need something creative, clever and catchy for this first line of my very first blog.  Ah well, I guess that was it. So having made a start, here we go…….

After all the craziness of renting out our home to strangers, packing up our 25 years of accumulated “stuff” and then staying with our friends, Vanea and Peter, we finally set of on our long anticipated journey.

Singapore

First stop was a  visit to our friends Kenn and Pla in Singapore. We arrived after midnight, caught a taxi to their apartment on Sentosa Island and caught the lift up from the car park directly into their apartment. That felt rather swanky!  The big  bed was lovely and comfy and the shower was five star.  Always good assets on a long trip. In Singapore, Rodney almost felt like he was back home, after working up there so much in previous years.  I just love the city for all the interesting buildings, you can walk miles and see so many fascinating things.

We lived out of our suitcases for 5 days and were well entertained by little Casse(6) and her hamster, Alice, who lives in her own small ‘Wonderland’.  Kenn & Pla spoilt us ridiculously with wonderful meals and driving us around. We had a  trip out on the harbour in their speedboat, part of the time spent with Casse towed behind us in a doughnut.

Our flight was late out of Singapore at 11:50pm, but then who cares, it’s just one very long night sitting on a plane and we still arrived on time at Heathrow.
