{"id":459,"date":"2012-05-08T18:52:10","date_gmt":"2012-05-08T17:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/?p=459"},"modified":"2025-11-23T05:21:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T05:21:59","slug":"the-chateau-and-the-laundrette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/2012\/05\/08\/the-chateau-and-the-laundrette\/","title":{"rendered":"The Chateau And The Laundrette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the Chateau de Cheverny really was quite stunning inside and it wasn\u2019t overly large.\u00a0 I think I could live in a chateau that size, but I\u2019ll stick with Eileen for now.\u00a0 It is supposedly the chateau that is Captain Haddock\u2019s humble abode in the &#8216;Adventures of Tintin&#8217;.\u00a0 He was looking out of the window when we were there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_460\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-460\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-460\" title=\"Inside the Chateau de Chiverny\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/87-in-Chateau-de-Chiverny-400x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-460\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Inside the Chateau de Chiverny<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_461\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-461\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-461\" title=\"Behind the Chateau de Chiverny\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/89-behind-Chateau-de-Chiverny-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-461\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Behind the Chateau de Chiverny<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We couldn\u2019t really enjoy strolling the grounds, due to the rain, so we drove in to the village to find an automatic teller machine and to see if anything might be open\u2026&#8230;\u00a0 nope; France is still closed and there didn\u2019t seem to be any banks with teller machines, so we drove back to the campsite and walked over to the laundrette to get a load of washing done.\u00a0 I always thought that &#8216;laundrette&#8217;\u00a0was a French word, but no, we needed the laverie automatique. Whatever it is called, we now have clean towels and lots of non-muddy clothes.<\/p>\n<p>It really is\u00a0quite nice\u00a0sitting inside Eileen when the weather is awful and we feel a little bit superior to some of our fellow campers. At this campsite, we\u2019re surrounded by tents\u00a0and\u00a0they all\u00a0look so soggy.\u00a0 Needless to say there\u00a0seems to be\u00a0no-one in them, because, as I said before, France is still closed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_462\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-462\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" steak and veggie dinner and we\u2019re now going to settle in to a movie on the laptop with a cup of tea in hand.\u00a0 Ah life is good\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_463\"
