{"id":493,"date":"2012-05-12T19:08:59","date_gmt":"2012-05-12T18:08:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/?p=493"},"modified":"2025-11-23T05:25:33","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T05:25:33","slug":"a-tale-of-two-cities-or-maybe-one-town-and-one-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/2012\/05\/12\/a-tale-of-two-cities-or-maybe-one-town-and-one-city\/","title":{"rendered":"A Tale Of Two Cities (or maybe one town and one city)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Je vais tres heureuse!\u00a0 Yes, very happy!\u00a0 More sunshine to spend a day strolling the streets of two major towns on the Loire riverbanks.\u00a0 First we drove to Amboise, parked Eileen, purchased some blood oranges and in a lovely little shop purchased an apron, in the hope of less clothes washing after cooking!\u00a0 At 11:30am we ordered deux chocolat chaud at a caf\u00e9 on the footpath leading up to the Chateau.\u00a0 We then walked up to the top of the town for a view over Amboise and back down to Eileen via a road that went right around Clos Luc\u00e9, the final home of Leonardo da Vinci. Our pate lunch was eaten on the banks of the Loire and we finished the meal with two very yummy raspberry tarts, sorry no photo this time!\u00a0 One thing we are finding crazy is that two beautifully made tarts cost less than one cup of hot chocolate or coffee\u2026\u2026doesn\u2019t seem right, somehow.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_496\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-496\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-496\" title=\"Eileen looking at Amboise\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/162-Eileen-Amboise-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-496\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eileen looking at Amboise<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen kilometres further along the banks of the Loire we stopped at Tours. This is quite a big city; lots of high rise on the outskirts, but there are still a few lovely streets full of cafes and a few mediaeval buildings to wander around near the Basilica of St Martin. By 5:30pm we were starting to feel a bit tired, so we drove Eileen down to Ballan-Mire (sounds more Irish than French) and checked in to Camping La Mignardiere for the night.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bon
