{"id":563,"date":"2012-05-28T17:24:33","date_gmt":"2012-05-28T16:24:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/?p=563"},"modified":"2025-11-23T05:33:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T05:33:05","slug":"mince-alors-no-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/2012\/05\/28\/mince-alors-no-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Mince Alors, A Picturesque Accidental Find !!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dordogne area of France is calling us, so we decided to get nearer to the area.\u00a0 We stopped off at a large hardware store and spent some more euro on a longer electric power cable and connector, so we can now stretch to 25 metres if the need arises.\u00a0 I also got a little fold up stool to make it easier stepping in and out of Eileen; sounds ridiculous, but the knees aren\u2019t happy with the big step.\u00a0 Next stop was a huge supermarket to buy some food, drinking water and a drying rack to hang out the window.\u00a0 Now that the weather is better, we hopefully won\u2019t need to pay for tumble dryers as much.<\/p>\n<p>We were aiming for Perigueux, but I then read about the village of Brant\u00f4me, which sounded really nice and I found the Camping Peyrelevade that also sounded good.\u00a0 Mince alors, both of them really are! \u00a0The village is referred to locally as the \u2018Venice of Perigord\u2019; we only found one canal, but the abbey is spectacularly built in to the side of a cliff and the village is on the island opposite bank. Some days it\u2019s suddenly 9.00pm and we haven\u2019t done the washing up from lunch and dinner (where\u2019s the flippin\u2019 dishwasher?), we haven\u2019t done any emails and the campervan is covered in stuff that needs putting away before we can even get the bed out. I\u2019ve wanted to do a bit of sewing, or drawing, but haven\u2019t found the time yet, though I have strung together and hung up lots of pebbles and shells to remind me of our lovely time on the Ile de R\u00e9.\u00a0 Being on \u2018Rodney Tours\u2019, there is research to be done on where we\u2019re going tomorrow, so I often end up doing that as we drive, at the same time as navigating, looking out for road signs, making sure Rodney stays on the right side of the road and trying to spot toilet stops, views worthy of photos, supermarkets and parking big enough for campervans.\u00a0 We&#8217;re quite a team!<\/p>\n<p>Having said all of that, today was, amazingly, a no new photos day, so here\u2019s one from yesterday of Rodney with a baguette under his arm.<\/p>\n<figure
