{"id":689,"date":"2012-06-11T21:14:52","date_gmt":"2012-06-11T20:14:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/?p=689"},"modified":"2025-11-23T05:49:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T05:49:11","slug":"a-wet-and-windy-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/2012\/06\/11\/a-wet-and-windy-one\/","title":{"rendered":"A Wet And Windy One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I did a little dance this morning, the bathroom showers here are wonderful.\u00a0 There is a choice of hot, or cold water, or a mix of both.\u00a0 The water comes out continuously, no button to keep pressing, no card to put in and out of a slot, no time limit; my hair washing session felt like heaven !!!\u00a0 And I\u2019m still glowing from the experience.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the weather was doing the opposite, it rained and rained all morning, so we kept ourselves busy tucked up indoors.\u00a0 When the rain stopped around 3pm we grabbed the bikes and cycled off to a beach on the south end of Capbreton and up the seafront to the harbour entrance.\u00a0 The sun was sort of shining, but the clouds out to sea were really black and we could see lightening hitting the water, way out in the distance.\u00a0 We also saw a kiosk selling churros \/ chichis, so we bought a bag of\u00a0six sticks\u00a0with chocolate dip and sat down to watch the storm clouds approaching.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_690\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-690\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-690\" title=\"418 Chichis at Capbreton pre storm (427x640)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640-400x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640-400x600.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640-300x450.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640-133x200.jpg 133w, https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640-64x96.jpg 64w, https:\/\/www.petersphotogallery.com\/rodneyandlaura\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/418-Chichis-at-Capbreton-pre-storm-427x640.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-690\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chichis at Capbreton, pre-storm<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just as I was licking the last of the sugar and chocolate from my fingers, the raindrops arrived and we just managed to get under cover as the storm came overhead.\u00a0 We hung around for a while and\u00a0when the rain finally eased to showers, we got back on our bikes and peddled along beside the yachts in the harbour.\u00a0 We then followed the cycle paths in to the town centre and out the other side to\u00a0a supermarket and back to the campsite.\u00a0 One amazing thing about France is the amount of very good cycle paths and we\u2019ve noted that cars\u00a0always stop for you at &#8216;bicycle crossings&#8217;, which is especially\u00a0nice when it\u2019s raining.\u00a0 Also, whenever you get a local map of each area, they usually include details of all the cycle routes too.\u00a0 I just don\u2019t like the ones with hills.<\/p>\n<p>Being back by the sea, we fancied fish for dinner, so we\u2019ve cooked salmon in pesto and parmesan and watched the sun come out amongst the few chunky clouds that are still hanging around.\u00a0 Fingers crossed the sun will hang around for tomorrow, though it\u2019s forecast to rain again, dang\u2026..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I did a little dance this morning, the bathroom showers here are wonderful.\u00a0 There is a choice of hot, or cold water, or a mix of both.\u00a0 The water comes out continuously, no button to keep pressing, no card to put in and out of a slot, no time limit;
