I\u2019ve just had to stand under a cold shower to cool down enough to concentrate on tapping out today\u2019s blog.\u00a0 For those of you wearing woolly jumpers as you read this, sorry!<\/p>\n

We set off on our bikes at 10am this morning; we really should have started earlier, when the day was cooler.\u00a0 We decided to have a look at Agde, only 7kms back east along the coast and apparently an interesting place, \u2018the crown jewel of the seaside resorts of the Mediterranean\u2019.\u00a0 We passed Marseillan Plage and stayed on the cycle track.\u00a0 As we have discovered all over France, the signposts\u00a0often disappear and you’re then on your own to decide which way to go.\u00a0 Crossing the Canal du Midi we realised that we might be heading the wrong way, but what did that matter\u2026.\u00a0 Then we found a really helpful signpost\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

We had realised by now that we wouldn\u2019t be going to Agde, but would probably be heading in to Marseillan, but this signpost really didn\u2019t help us.\u00a0 We opted for the straight on direction to stay closer to the water and after 6.5 kms, we did find ourselves in the unexpectedly lovely town of Marseillan.<\/p>\n

The Port area was really nice and we had a chat with a couple from Hull, England who have cruised their boat across the English Channel to Le Havre, then\u00a0down the Seine, through the Loire and followed\u00a0the canals all the way to the Mediterranean.\u00a0 They left England in May last year!\u00a0 It made our trip seem rather simple in comparison.\u00a0 Next stop was the now necessary cold drink in a caf\u00e9 by the water and then we wandered along to the market and the main town.<\/p>\n

We ate a tuna quiche and more cold drinks in a park and then decided that we really should get back to the beach area to buy some supplies and get out of the heat, it was now 34\u02daC and there was no shade anywhere.<\/p>\n

When we got back to Marseillan Plage all the shops were of closed (why did we not expect that?), but we managed to find a tiny shop to get some milk and fruit to see us through to tomorrow.\u00a0 Eating out again tonight seems like a good option, me thinks.<\/p>\n
