After a quick bowl of cereal, a very quick shower in Eileen and a fast lock down, we set off at 8:20am to get to Annecy as early as we could.\u00a0 The camping car parking spot at the top of the hill by the Basilica de la Visitation had us concerned that we were a long way out, but there were some steep steps going downhill and in\u00a0only ten\u00a0minutes we were in the old town next to the lake.\u00a0 The fruit and veggie market was in full swing and it seemed to stretch the full length of the vieille ville.\u00a0 We bought cherries and nougat and olives and some rather different flavoured salamis: pimento, olive and a Beaujolais one!<\/p>\n

Rodney was in dire need of a haircut, so I pushed him into a little ‘salon de coiffure’ next to the canal and wandered a few shops while he was shampooed and trimmed.\u00a0 The pretty young hairdresser didn\u2019t cut all his blonde tips off and he still looks gorgeous.<\/p>\n

We lunched on tomatoes and mozzarella in oil and balsamic back up at the car park because the view over the city is lovely from there.\u00a0 Then we set off along the west side of the lake to find a place to stay.\u00a0 We picked the Camping Au Coeur du Lac in Sevrier, as it is right on Lake Annecy and the cycle track runs beside it.\u00a0 We\u2019ve parked under an enormous tree covered in blossom, which is dropping white flowers all around us; they should be a little quieter in the night than the apricots were\u2026!\u00a0 After setting up for\u00a0two nights here, we went for a stroll over to the lake and were amazed to see people swimming.\u00a0 I thought it would be icy cold, but the water\u00a0actually felt warmer than the Mediterannean – we\u2019re confused\u2026.!<\/p>\n

Tomorrow we\u2019ll go for a cycle ride and if we get really hot, maybe we will throw ourselves in the lake afterwards\u2026\u2026maybe.<\/p>\n
