Eileen’s Got Gas

Yes, at last, Eileen had a refillable LPG gas system inserted into her side on Thursday. So we celebrated by driving her up to Buntingford to fill her tank with LPG.  We couldn’t find the bowser without help, then we couldn’t work out how to attach it, but Rodney got there in the end and we drove back to Hertford, happy in the knowledge that as soon as the registration papers come through, we could finally book a ferry to France.  On the way back we dropped in to Chris and Liz’s house to check the mail and there sitting on the doormat were the registration papers, yippeee!!!!

Andy & Carole were so pleased to hear we were finally leaving, they lent us some DVDs and gave us a lovely bon voyage gift pack to see us on our way.  So we now have a 2012 London Olympics tea towel and pen, a really useful toolkit (chocolate) and a selection of puzzle books to keep our brains working in retirement.

Carole also made us a great card which we now have stuck on our wall; must get Rodney some fancy pants and a pipe, so that we really look the part…..!

So on Friday we dashed down to the Department of Vehicle Licensing and purchased a new tax disc as the current one will run out in a month’s time, while we are in France. We also bought a couple of raincoats as the hosepipe ban in England has really broken the drought and it has hardly stopped raining for the last week.  The rest of the day was then spent packing up nearly everything that had accumulated in Andy & Carole’s spare room and moving it up to our new home, or delivering the things we didn’t need to my brother’s loft; so sorry Neil.

Oh, I also made sure that we had some absolute necessities with us……

Cheers
