A Multicultural Jubilee Day

After a lazy day yesterday, we packed in more villages today.  It rained most of the night so we weren’t inspired to make an early start.  By the time we left the campsite it was 11:30am so with the boulangeries closing at midday for lunch, we made a desperately quick dash in to La Bugue for today’s French stick.  Today’s tour was back through Les Eyzies and then north up the Vézère Valley stopping at St Léon sur Vézère for a stroll and finally Montignac.

We had a late picnic by the river and then wandered the streets on both sides of the river. All we could find was a dreadful flea market full of absolutely nothing you would want to buy, so we didn’t.   We headed south down to St Geniès intending to treat ourselves to a hot chocolate or an ice cream in the picturesque village, but absolutely nothing was open, so we ate another raspberry jaffa cake and headed on south, bypassing Sarlat (we’re saving that for another day) and pulled into Camping Le Capeyrou in Beynac-et-Cazenac.

The campsite is the busiest we have come across yet, it’s full of British, Dutch, Belgian, German, Swiss and French campers, but we’re the only ones with a Union Jack sarong which is now being used as a back door fly screen…..

The view from the back window of Eileen is hard to believe.  We are right by the Dordogne river and above us is the most amazing castle at the top of a cliff.  Looks like we’ve found tomorrow’s trip.
